Chanell DP Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Good Afternoon, I wonder if anybody can help me. I have a .txt file wich I need to import. The file is space / tab delimited. I get an error when I want to add the file to the source files to import window The error says: Error Parsing value in line one. Value B: Invalid characters found in input string 'B' The message caries on for each different description in line one. I don't know what the problem is with the way the file is written. Can somebody please assist me. Thanx OB FOUNDATION SURVEY 17 SEPT.txt SURVEY OF CONCRETE PLACED ON THE OUTLET BLOCK 29 SEPT-5 OCT(SVD 06 OCT) O.txt Quote
rkmcswain Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 I don't know for sure, but I don't think C3D supports alphanumeric point numbers. Quote
aldo Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Hi, I've the same problem. My solution is a simple cut and paste to the file Importing Points.txt that i'm sending. Why does it work an what is the difference?. Hwo Knows? Importing Points.txt Quote
rustysilo Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Yes rkmcswain is right. You can get rid of it in excel by using the text to columns function and then remove the first column. Quote
rustysilo Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Or if you want the character in your point number to display in your drawing you can use HawsEDC Survey Points Import to bring in "points", but they won't be real Civil 3D points. You can still use them to build a surface though by first moving them to the proper elevation (surfaces > utilities > moves blocks to attribute elevation) and then expanding your surface data collection and add them as "drawing objects". BIGAL Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 A simple way to edit would be to open in word change " "(spaces) to , ie csv file also if you search replace for B replace with nothing B is gone Quote
shahram Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 hi build this format for your poins DENZ(space dilimited) in point fileformat . in PENZ , P can read digit only but this new format solve your problem;) Quote
Emigrato Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Brilliant, Shahram You could also simply ignore the first column, by setting it as "unused": Quote
Tiger Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 And perhaps C3D have evolved to the better in four years? Quote
Emigrato Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 And perhaps C3D have evolved to the better in four years? Yup, but as we tell in Italy: "Better later, than ever"... Quote
