Washed out colors when rendering

Hi everyone,

I'm new to rendering and have a question about the output. Whenever I seem to render something, the colors look washed out and gray-ish. I've been playing around with different settings but can't seem to find something to fix it. Anybody know why this is? I'll post a screen shot of a rendered region.
