boofredlay Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Anybody still thinking that SketchUp is just a toy needs to check out ixlrlxi's vehicles and other creations. He is a Russian concept artist with mad skills. Here is a 6 page thread of his work over at ConceptArt.org All done with SketchUp, Vray and Photoshop. There is a tutorial about halfway down page 4 as well (for the rendering, not modeling). http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=169091 Quote
gcp310 Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 nice work, very impressive. i think sketchup is so underestimated, i am finding more ways to use it everyday, and it frustrates me when i go back to autocad to do some 3d now. Quote
wakozi Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 wow,... i wish i had those skills... thanks for sharing. its very inspiring. ^_^ Quote
f700es Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Yeah it just kills me to hear SU referred to as a simple massing application Quote
gcp310 Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 i had a chat with a guy from a government business consulting firm a while ago. as a part of a government program they were offering a free service in setting up lean manufacturing and streamlining, and he said that no one took them seriously. The Government changed tack, Started charging $1000 per day, all of a sudden big business started taking them seriously, and they have been busy ever since. maybe Google need to charge more for their program I have started seeing more job adverts asking for Sketchup skills. designerstuart Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 it's a good point but i don't think they should charge a penny / cent / whatever for their software - free always tastes good! Quote
