Workspace switching Problems

Recommended Posts

Posted

When I try to switch my workspace from 3D back to 2D, all of the ribbon bar in the top switches back to 2D, but the workspace itself remains visible as 3D - viewcube and all. What is causing this? I see several instances where I need to get back into 2D to look at or draw a certain thing, and I can't get it to switch back over. The gray background is present as well. Regen does nothing, minimizing and maximizing doesn't do anything, and pulling up display options doesn't do anything.

Am I missing something?

Did you make any changes to the 2D Background via Tools > Options > Display > Colors?

Other than switching the background from black to white to view hatching, no.

Did you switch back to 2D wireframe from whatever you were using in 3D? What Visual Style were you using? 3DHidden? Conceptual? Realistic?

I was in conceptual in 3D before I started trying to go back to 2D. I tried switching it back to wireframe before going at 2D again, but the same thing still happens. The whole 3D look is still there - except wireframe - just like it was in 3D.

Save your drawing. Quit out of AutoCAD. Then start AutoCAD again and open the drawing. Any change?

I tried this earlier throughtout the drawing process and it didn't help. It has been a problem since I began the 3D part a few days ago.

On the other hand, if I open a new file, and draw a simple line, switch from 2D to 3D and back to 2D again, I don't have a problem.

It doesn't make sense.

Would you be willing to email me the drawing if I PM'd you with my email address? I'd like to see this mythical creature.

I think I just figured it out. I feel like an idiot, but don't we all sometimes..

Up in the top where you can choose how you view the drawing, where it says conceptual, realistic, 3D wire frame, 2D Wire Frame....

For some reason all this time I had been on any of the 3D choices. When I switched over to 2D wireframe instead of 3D wire frame and switched the workspace back to 2D, all is well.

Thank you for the help as always though lol.

Funny. That's exactly what I did when I opened your drawing. Said so in my subsequent email back to you. It's better you found out on your own though. Thanks for updating us.
