Default Printing 3-D coming out as wireframe!!?

Hi,

What I see when I press "hide" is exactly what I want but when I print my 3-D models from AutoCAD 2000 - a messy wireframe comes out.

I really cannot be bothered to mess about with rendering, setting it all up etc.

I tried screen grabbing but the resolution is too rough for it to look presentable enough to look professionaly enough to my customers.

Can anyone help? Would be much appreciated.

Ben

In your plot dialog there should be a checkbox "Hide" - that will perform a hide to your model before printing, you'll be able to see it in the preview.

You're welcome.

Funny how simple things are when you know how to do them isn't it?

Hello again. So I have been happily printing out 3-D shapes using the "hide" command.

I have now moved on to using them in our company layout template. Now when I print these out - even with the hide tick box ticked, the 3-D model comes out wireframe again!

Any ideas please?

Try the following from the command line:

Command: MVIEW
Specify corner of viewport or [ON/OFF/Fit/Shadeplot/Lock/Object/Polygonal/Restore/LAyer/2/3/4] <Fit>: H
Hidden line removal for plotting [ON/OFF]: ON
Select objects:

Follow the prompts as shown. If you have text, you will likely find that if you 'hide' it that it wil print out in an outline. If you use this option, you will not need to check the 'hidden' in the plot dialogue box.

Great. That gives me my outline 3-D drawing and my words back on the template in mormal print.

Only small point is that dimensions within the viewing window are outlines. Is there any way to print those out not as outlines? Tricky..

The only option for that is to SOLDRAW/SOLVIEW, or USE FLATSHOT to make your 3-D model 2-D, to dimension it. You can also modify your dimension style to dimension in paperspace vs. model space.

Also take a look at this thread:
