P&ID Blocks and Layering Conventions

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Well firstly Im an old timer acad user, started back in 1987 and since I have mostly been working on Civils/ Architectural projects.

Because of the downturn I find myself working from home and being asked to set up symbols and layering conventions for P&ID drgs, the most urgent being steam, compressed air, HV and water.

Ive spend a day surfing thru Google and although I have found a few things there was nothing definitive.

Just wondered if someone can point me in the right direction, If I recall there is info but only if I pay a £600-£700 subscription fee which being the way things are I cant afford.

Many thanks in Advance

John

Look over at caddepot.com, search on PID, I found 9 different ones, I can't tell if they are all for money or not but worth a look.

In the US we have the ISA and many companies belong to and follow their standards for symbols, method, etc.

I agree, unless you want a bunch of phone calls from an engineer or site. I would get yourself some proper ISA guidelines for blocks, line types etc.. Save you a bunch of headaches
