ke_ch Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 How can I export all the drawings of MEP to autocad? Is it possible? Quote
tzframpton Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 If you do have AutoCAD MEP, then File > Export to AutoCAD. Or you can just type -exporttoautocad at the command line. If you don't have AutoCAD MEP, then you'll need to install the Object Enablers and then use the command line version of the export tool only. Quote
myself Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 well, doesnt autocad open MEP files? are you talking about Autocad MEP? i guess im not fully understanding your question, but im gonna check that. Quote

Yes. However, the plain version of AutoCAD opens MEP files too. If you have the right Object Enablers installed then you can see all the "MEP" parts in the drawing, they are just not editable. Even LT can do this. However, with the "-exporttoautocad" tool it will convert everything to a 2D editable DWG file. Quote
myself Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 i didnt know that, thats really interesting to create the final drawings, and can you do that at a certain elevation, i mean, when you have a building with 3 floors, can you create a 2D drawing from each floor? i must go deep with mep, in my company we dont know yet which one to follow, Autcad MEP or Revit MEP, but it seems to me that the firts one its more developed and more friendly for someone with autocad background. Revit MEP comes with AutoCAD MEP. It's a "suite" when you purchase it so learn both. We only use Revit when we need to. AutoCAD MEP provides us with far more design capabilities for our needs here when it comes to producing mechanical drawings. Its faster, you have more control of visibility, and still "works" like AutoCAD. So, problem solved for you. haha j/k Quote

Anybody knows why? Quote
tzframpton Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 You need Object Enablers installed on 2007 probably. Check here: http://www.autodesk.com/oe Quote
